Janez Štros je doma iz Bitenj pri Kranju. S slikarstvom se je začel ukvarjati pred približno 15. leti, ko je na slikarsko platno začel prenašati svoja čutenja, doživljanja in obujanja spominov. Doslej je svoje slike razstavil tako v razstaviščih doma kot v tujini in zanje prejel tudi več nagrad. Svoje slikarske cikle je v zadnjem obdobju nadgradil s serijo, katerih reprodukcije je izdal v likovni monografiji z naslovom Tudi ti si Angel. Ne moremo reči, da je samo slikar. Pri opisu poklica s katerim se ukvarja, je nujno potrebno dodati še humanitarec.
